Fall Furnace Safety Tips

The weather is starting to cool down and fall is officially here. Each season, there are different things homeowners need to do in order to ensure safety and comfort in their home. Royal Heating & Air is here to help you with these tasks. Now is the time to review furnace safety tips provided by the best HVAC company at the Lake of the Ozarks. These tips will help ensure that your home will be safe and cozy this fall and winter.

Fall Furnace Safety Tips

Your heating and cooling system should be checked twice a year. Once in the spring before the heat of summer, and once in the fall before the cold of winter. Heating systems, such as fireplaces and furnaces that aren’t routinely checked are not only inefficient, but they can be dangerous as well. The older your HVAC system, the more important routine checks are. Make sure your home is safe this fall and winter with these tips!

Install carbon monoxide detectors on every level of the home and outside of each bedroom.
The number one danger of a failing heating system is a carbon monoxide leak. This is one reason why you should schedule heating maintenance early. CO detectors should be installed just like smoke detectors; this means they should be installed in all of the major areas in your home. It’s also a good idea to test all of your CO and smoke detectors once a month.

Make sure there is nothing combustible within 6 inches of your ventilation pipe.
Periodically inspect your vent pipes to make sure there is nothing obstructing them, such as leaves, snow, or even bird nests. All fuel-burning systems need ventilation for proper safety.

Maintain a minimum 3-foot clearance around your furnace, fireplace, and other heat sources.
Keep the area around heaters unobstructed and free from any flammable items. You should also never store any paint, chemicals, gasoline or any other combustible material anywhere near your furnace.

Change your air filters regularly.
Dirty filters are hard on your system.  A system that is overworked will not run effectively, which could cause potential risk to your home.  You want to make sure to change your filter often to prevent future damage to your unit which could be dangerous.

Schedule Fall maintenance to be performed on your unit.
When it comes to maintenance, we can help.  You can keep your system running with simple upkeep tasks but to make sure it is running safely, it is always best to have your system inspected by a professional.  Keep your family safe this year and make sure your unit is ready for the colder months.

Royal Heating & Air knows that annual professional maintenance will ensure that your home is safe and cozy this fall and winter. The furnace safety tips above are a great way to get ready for the colder weather.  From preventative maintenance to installations, the best HVAC company in Lake of the Ozarks is here to help you. Fight Your Fall Allergies By Improving Your Indoor Air Quality!

Fall allergies have arrived. If you find yourself suffering, we have a few tips to help fight your fall allergies by improving your indoor air quality. Not only is it important for the air inside your home to be a comfortable temperature, you want the quality of the air to be good as well. While some things may be out of your control, there are little things you can do around your home to improve the quality of the air that you and your family are breathing in on a daily basis. This time of year is a great time to do some indoor maintenance to your home and HVAC system to help improve your allergy symptoms. Your premier HVAC company at the Lake of the Ozarks have a few tips to improve your indoor air quality from Royal Heating & Air.

Check Your Filters

Fall is a great time to check your air filters. As your system runs, it will circulate the dust and dirt throughout your home causing your allergies to flare up even more. Dirty filters don't trap the dirt as efficiently as clean or new filters would. It is recommended to clean or change your air filters every couple of months. As the dust settles in your home, be sure to keep your surfaces clean and dust free. The excess dust will irritate seasonal allergies, so staying on top of your cleaning regimen will help reduce symptoms.

Keep Your Floors Clean

One of the easiest ways to keep pollutants out of the air in your home is to clean your floors regularly. Allergens easily settle and accumulate on the floors of your home. From carpet to tile or wood flooring, you want to keep them all clean. By vacuuming often, you reduce pollen, pet dander, and dust mites. Mopping the floors picks up the dust that's left after vacuuming. To keep your floors from getting too dirty in the first place, be sure to put a doormat down for people to wipe their shoes on. You can even ask people to take their shoes off at the door to cut down on the pollutants brought into your home.

Invest In a Whole-Home Humidifier

As the cooler weather approaches, we switch from air conditioning to heat. As this switch happens, the dry air from your system can cause the same symptoms as your allergies. If you are already suffering from allergies, the heat can irritate your symptoms even more. A whole-home humidifier can help relieve your symptoms by adding moisture back into the air. The whole-home humidifier covers more square feet of home, as well as, adjusts automatically to your homes humidity level. Give us a call and we can help you understand the benefits of a whole home humidifier system.

Keep Your AC Clean
Keeping your HVAC unit clean is another great way to improve your indoor air quality, and you're giving your system a longer life in the process. Make sure leaves and other outside debris is clear from your unit to help it run efficiently.  Be sure to check the coils and drip pan regularly too.

Many of these steps are things you can accomplish on your own, but when it comes to a properly working HVAC system, you know who to call. Our Lake of the Ozarks HVAC company is here for all your heating and cooling needs. We want to help you with improving your indoor air quality by ensuring your system is in tip-top shape. HVAC System Maintenance This Fall Is A Must

Fall is quickly approaching, which means most of us will start to spend more time indoors. Therefore, it's important that the atmosphere inside your home promotes good health and safety. This time of year is a great time to schedule your HVAC maintenance by your premier HVAC company at the Lake of the Ozarks.  Read below why scheduling your HVAC maintenance this fall is a must.

Longer Equipment Life

Regular maintenance on your HVAC unit will help promote a longer life for your equipment.  These units don't last forever but we can help promote a longer lifespan with regular maintenance.  Catching small issues ahead of time and fixing it now will ensure you are ready for the cooler weather. Fixing small issues before they become big problems will save you money and headache.  Stay on top of servicing your unit and in the long run, your HVAC system will run more efficiently.

Safer For The Family

Equipment breaks down over time causing leaks and inefficiencies in your HVAC unit.  Regular maintenance will find any potential issues and fix it before it becomes a problem.  Leaks can be extremely dangerous for your family.  Checking for leaks in your system can keep carbon monoxide and other dangerous gas from harming your family.  Don't take any chances this fall, make sure you get your system checked so you can have peace of mind.

Saves You Money In The Long Run

Keeping your energy costs down is one of our goals for our customers.  Over time a neglected system breaks down and doesn't run efficiently. When you schedule preventative maintenance for your HVAC unit, you are staying on top of any issues that could make your unit run poorly.  A regularly maintained unit will keep your home comfortable and will consume less energy to do so.

Royal Heating and Air is here to help with your Lake of the Ozarks HVAC System maintenance! Our goal is to keep your unit running safely, efficiently and for as long as possible.  "The King of Comfort" team is ready to give you peace of mind this fall, Lake of the Ozark HVAC needs!
