What’s Custom Sheet Metal Fabrication & Is It Worth It?

Have you heard us talk about our custom sheet metal fabrication and wondered what exactly that is? Royal Heating & Air is set apart at the Lake of the Ozarks as one of the few HVAC companies that offer this as part of our service. And today, we're here to talk about exactly what this means and if it could be beneficial to your home. Keep reading to find out!

What Is Custom Sheet Metal Fabrication?

The ductwork for your HVAC system is what carries the heating and cooling throughout your home. It is made from sheet metal and the goal is for it to be as efficient as possible in order to keep your home the right temperature for the least amount of energy and cost. Ductwork is commonly made with standard-sized pieces that may or may not fit the best. There could be several areas in your system that are inefficient, improperly shaped, and leaky because it's not designed for your specific layout. That's where we come in! At Royal Heating & Air, we can custom fabricate the sheet metal to fit your home's specifications. That means no wasted space, more direct lines to your vents, and a more efficient and comfortable home.

Is it Worth It?

Check out these top reasons why custom sheet metal fabrication could be right for you!

Savings from Improved Efficiency

Custom sheet metal fabrication is an investment upfront that could bring you significant savings in the long-run. With custom ductwork, air can travel through the ducts more easily, without interruptions. It allows the air to get to you more quickly, without losing energy. This improved efficiency not only reduces a significant amount of waste, but it can save you money on your monthly energy bills. Greater efficiency means that hot or cold air will travel through your ductwork without any interruptions. Proper ductwork, designed specifically for your home, keeps your HVAC system working more efficiently.

Better Air Balance & Flow

One of the biggest issues with standard ductwork is poor installation. If typical, pre-made ductwork is installed in your home, it may be shoved into place which can cause pinching or collapsing. These problems can seriously interfere with the system’s air balance and flow. Getting ductwork custom designed for your home's specific measurements ensures that air flows without any hindrances. It will also help make sure that the air moving through your ducts gets to your rooms on the shortest possible path. With a custom ductwork system, you can rest assured that your system is perfectly balanced.

Increased System Performance

With ductwork that's custom fit to your home, you'll have the greater overall performance of your HVAC system. The improvement in airflow will help regulate temperatures in rooms throughout the home. Keeping the temperature constant, with fewer temperature swings, prevents your system from overworking. This can be especially beneficial for upstairs rooms or other rooms that typically get hotter or colder than others. Controlled temperatures throughout your home not only increases the performance of your system but promotes a longer life for your HVAC system.

Missing These 5 Preventative Steps Could be Dangerous

Your HVAC system is an important part of keeping your home safe and comfortable year-round. Royal Heating & Air cares about you and your family, and we're here to give you 5 important steps every homeowner should take to keep their HVAC working properly and stay safe. Keep reading to learn them all!

1. Install a Surge Protector on Your Outdoor Units

Lightning can be a very serious hazard to your HVAC system. A strike at or nearby your home can damage or completely ruin your system’s components or wiring. Of course, your system is hard wired in, so you can’t just plug it into a surge protector. But you can add a whole-house surge protector, which will not only protect your HVAC system but everything that is plugged into your home’s electrical system.

2. Covering Your AC Unit in the Winter

Having your air conditioner covered during the fall can prevent leaves, yard waste, sticks and other debris from getting stuck inside. During the winter, a cover can protect your unit from falling ice as well. Falling ice can cause a lot of damage to your AC unit that could require costly repairs. Additionally, they prevent water from resting directly on the AC unit's coils and freezing, which could damage them. Overall, a cover helps keep the coils cleaner so the unit runs more efficiently the next time your AC unit is turned on. One thing to keep in mind is that a cover could entice animals to make their shelter in your covered AC unit, away from the cold.

*NOTE: You should only cover an air conditioning unit; do not use a cover if your system is a heat pump. Heat pumps should not be covered.

3. Keeping the Condensing Coil Clean

As your HVAC system runs, it accumulates dust and dirt in key areas that affect its efficiency, like the condensing coils and air filters. If this is left unchecked, your AC system can lose 5 percent of its operating efficiency each year because of the buildup! This means that your AC won’t be able to cool your house as well as it could if it were clean, costing you more money.

4. Install Carbon Monoxide Detectors

The temperatures are starting to drop and heaters are getting turned on to keep the house warm through the night already. When you use your furnace, the number one danger of a failure is a carbon monoxide (or CO) leak. This is one of the important reasons why you should schedule heating maintenance early and install carbon monoxide detectors in your home. CO detectors should be installed just like smoke detectors. This means they should be installed in all of the major areas in your home; preferably on every level of the house and outside of each bedroom. It’s also a good idea to test all of your CO and smoke detectors once a month.

5. Schedule HVAC Maintenance Checks

Regular preventative maintenance can not only increase efficiency and lifespan, it also helps you discover and repair things before they lead to bigger problems, more expensive repairs, and potential outages. If you have not had your furnace serviced yet this year, we have HVAC technicians at the Lake of the Ozarks ready to help!

Bonus: What a Maintenance Check Entails

When one of our technicians arrives for a fall HVAC maintenance check at the Lake of the Ozarks, the first thing that will happen is your system and its components will be inspected. If parts are dirty, they will be cleaned, if there are signs of wear or damage, those will be addressed. Moving parts will be lubricated and if the filter is clogged it will be replaced. The air handler will be checked out to make sure it is in good working condition and cleaned if needed. Airflow efficiency will be measured and your thermostat will also be tested and calibrated if necessary. In addition, the technician will monitor the system while it is on to make sure it is functioning properly and not using more power than it should be. If you have a gas furnace the burner will be cleaned and the heat exchanger checked for signs of cracking or corrosion, too. Any issue that is found will be brought to your attention and discussed along with repair solutions.

Whatever your heating and cooling needs, Royal Heating & Air is here for you! We know what steps to take to keep you and your home safe year-round. Give us a call to schedule your maintenance check or learn more about the services we provide.

How to Pick the Right HVAC Company – And Avoid the Bad Ones!

Finding the right contractor to take care of your home can be a difficult task! You're trusting a stranger to come into your home and fix something that is essential to your house operating efficiently, comfortably, and safely. Today, Royal Heating & Air is talking about how to pick the best HVAC company for your home, and how to avoid the worst ones!

Great Reviews

When you're looking for a contractor in the area, make sure you check out their reviews on Google, Facebook, and other sources that allow reviews of local businesses. If the business you're investigating has only has one or two stars and loads of bad reviews, that is a bad sign. While every business is going to collect a bad review or two over time, if all or most of the reviews are bad, take their word for it and move along to another contractor.

Royal Heating & Air has a quality score of 4.7 on Google and 4.9 on Facebook. We love hearing from our customers and helping you live safely and comfortably in your home year-round.

Another great way to find the best HVAC company in your area is to ask your friends and neighbors what their experience has been. Who do they use? How would they rate their experience? What kinds of services have they used from that company? These kinds of questions can help you figure out if you want to use the same company your friends do, or if you'd rather find someone else.

High Rating with BBB

It’s important to have a high rating with the Better Business Bureau. The BBB uses several ranking factors to determine how a business is most likely going to interact with customers. They then make a recommendation based on these factors that communicate how responsible, stable, and reliable they think the business is.

Royal Heating & Air has the highest possible rating of A+! We are proud to have such a high ranking that matches our passion to serve the Lake community with excellence and professionalism.

Involved in the Community

When a company is involved in their local community, you know they are invested in truly serving people and providing quality work. A business with a bad reputation, poor work, or scam-like activities is probably not also going to be an active member of the chamber, sponsoring local charities, and attending important community events.

We love being involved in the Lake of the Ozarks community! Check out some of these organizations and events we love to sponsor... Great Bagnell Dam Duck Drop, Christmas for Kids, YPL Dodgeball Tournament benefitting local charities, Annual Eagle Days, Kiwanis, and more!

Emergency Services

Your heating and air conditioning system is a very important part of your home and personal comfort. We can’t plan for things to go wrong when it is convenient. The system may fail in the middle of the night or on a weekend when most businesses are closed. It’s important to have someone you can trust to be able to call when you need them most.

At Royal Heating & Air, we understand that being safe and comfortable in your home is extremely important. That is why we make it a priority to provide emergency services when something goes wrong. Save our number in your phone so you’re ready in case the furnace or air conditioner goes out: 573-480-4313.

Innovating for a Better Home

Find an HVAC company that goes above and beyond for you. A company that does the bare minimum does still get the job done, but a business that works hard to make sure you are comfortable and satisfied is even better.

Royal Heating & Air doesn’t just repair and install HVAC units. We provide numerous other services that can make a huge difference in your home. Some of these services include home comfort checks, whole-home humidifiers, UV light systems, mini-split installations, custom ductwork, and more!

Best HVAC at the Lake

Any time you are looking for a contractor at the Lake of the Ozarks, you want to take your time and do your research. Especially when you are looking for a contractor that can affect the comfort and safety of your home. Finding the best heating and cooling company for you doesn't have to be hard though! Pay attention to the reviews and ratings, check to see if the company is active in the community, and pay attention to the kinds of services and products they offer. Royal Heating & Air could be the perfect fit for you! Give us a call to learn more about our services and to schedule a maintenance check on your HVAC system.

"We are having our 3rd annual #cancersucks Fundraiser. Cancer has touched each persons lives in one way or another. So instead of choosing just one type we choose to fight against them all, United Against Cancer! This year we will be donating to St. Mary's Cancer Center. Please help us make it a HUGE success by coming by and shopping during the event but also by sharing the event with others. Thanks!"
