Summer Storms and HVAC at the Lake

Summertime in the Midwest brings days full of sunshine and outdoor fun, but it can also bring humidity, very high temperatures, and storms. These can all cause issues for your house and HVAC system. Royal Heating & Air is the best HVAC company at the Lake of the Ozarks, so we have the knowledge and expertise to help prepare you for summer weather!

Rain & Moisture

A popular old saying is that "April showers bring May flowers." But as anyone living in Missouri probably knows, the rain in the Midwest can be unpredictable and last well into the summer months. While rain and typical moisture from humidity won't harm a healthy air conditioning unit, it's very possible that an old, worn out unit could experience issues. If there are any leaks or cracks in your system, rainwater and humidity could seep into places that house moisture-sensitive components. Scheduling regular maintenance with your local HVAC company can help keep your AC unit protected.

Wind & Hail

Wind may not sound dangerous on its own, but wind speeds in the Midwest can get very high. These rapid winds can pick up debris and ram it into the side of your air conditioning unit with alarming force. The force from hail can also be destructive to your AC unit. It can be difficult to prevent this kind of damage, as the weather in Missouri is unpredictable, and it isn't practical or safe to "board up" your unit. After a serious storm in your area, check on your unit. If you notice several dings, cracks, or damage from the storm, then it would be a good idea to give Royal Heating & Air a call to come check on your system and make any necessary repairs. Dents in your AC unit's coils could seriously affect the system's efficiency.

Power Surges & Electrical Storms

This is possibly one of the most serious threats to your HVAC system. If your home experiences a surge of electricity during a storm, then some of the elements in your HVAC system could fry. The air conditioning unit can't exactly be plugged into a surge protecting power strip, but there are measures you can take to help protect your system. Look into a whole-home surge protection system to help keep your HVAC safer from electrical storms. If you do experience a surge or power outage in the house and the air doesn't kick back on when electricity returns, call Royal Heating & Air. We have the best emergency HVAC services at the Lake and would be happy to come check-out your system for you.

Health, Comfort, and Savings - What HVAC Maintenance Can Do for You!

Home is a place where you should feel comfortable, relaxed, happy, and safe. As the best HVAC company at the Lake of the Ozarks, Royal Heating & Air knows how to keep keep your house feeling great throughout the year... HVAC maintenance! Don't believe us? Proper HVAC maintenance can help save you money in the long run, promote a healthier home environment, and make the house a more comfortable place to spend your time. Keep reading to learn more and find out how!

Health

As equipment ages, it can start to break down, leak fluids or gas, and stop working properly. This is not only frustrating, but could also be very dangerous for you and your family's health. One of the gases that could start leaking from your system is carbon monoxide. This odorless, colorless gas replaces the oxygen in your lungs and can seriously threaten your life.

Additionally, if your HVAC system isn't working efficiently, then the air in your home may not be as clean as it could be. Servicing the HVAC system and regularly changing the air filter is important part of airflow in the home. A well-working HVAC system with a new filter can easily catch pollutants and harmful materials that would otherwise be circulating inside the air in your home. Breathe easier with regular HVAC maintenance from Royal Heating & Air!

Comfort

When everything is in good working order, your HVAC system can keep the house more comfortable and will consume less energy. You don't want to wait until it's unbearably hot or way too cold before you call your local HVAC technician. Scheduling preventative maintenance can help catch any issues before they become a major problem.

Savings

Scheduling regular maintenance on your HVAC system is important in keeping your unit functioning well in the long-term. While no unit can last forever, regular maintenance can help extend the life of your HVAC and delay the time when you have to fully replace it. The best HVAC technicians at the Lake of the Ozarks can help find and fix any small problems in the system before it gets worse and costs a lot more money. A well-working HVAC system also consumes less energy while keeping your home at comfortable temperatures, so you can save even more.

HVAC at the Lake of the Ozarks

Regular maintenance should be performed on your system at least twice a year with the major changes in seasons. This will help keep your HVAC system running efficiently so you can save money, breathe easier, and feel more comfortable at home. Give us a call at Royal Heating & Air and schedule your maintenance check! We look forward to helping you and your family stay happy and comfortable, in this season and every season.

Stay Safe This Summer - Outside and at Home!

Summer is a great time of year, especially at the Lake of the Ozarks! But summer can also bring uncomfortable circumstances and even some dangerous situations. Royal Heating & Air is the best HVAC company at the Lake of the Ozarks, and we are here to help you get ready for a great summer full of fun that is also safe. Keep reading to learn more!

Safe from the Sun

Sunshine can be good for you in the right amounts. It's one of the best and most reliable ways to get the vitamin D that your body needs. However, if you are exposed for too long without protection, then it could actually be bad for you. We all know that sunburns hurt and that peeling skin is itchy and annoying. But did you know that damage from the sun can also cause mutations in your skin cells that could eventually cause cancer? Yikes!

Make sure to always apply a high-quality sunscreen at or above SPF 30 if you plan to be outside longer than 15 minutes. Even one hour of direct sunlight exposure can cause a bad burn that could have you feeling uncomfortable and tender for weeks.

Safe on the Water

Being out on the water at the Lake of the Ozarks is a great pastime! Feeling the wind in your hair as you cruise across the Lake in a boat... What could be better? An important element to take into consideration, however, is that being on the water can also be dangerous.

There are several accidents on the water every year that could be prevented with a little preparation and caution. Before you go out on the water, make sure you have a designated driver, wear high-quality life jackets, and drink responsibly.

Safe at Home

Staying at home is more common these days. You may think that there aren't any risks to staying at home, but that may not be the case. Indoor air quality can actually be pretty unhealthy, containing dust particles, bacteria, germs, and other harmful materials.

Royal Heating & Air can help improve your indoor air quality with our great services, including HVAC maintenance and UV light systems. Regular HVAC maintenance keeps your systems operating well so that the air in your home circulates well. Our UV light system also help in a big way by killing pathogens in the air as the ultraviolet light comes into contact with the harmful materials. We can install them directly into your HVAC system to help clean the air as it works.

Shop Local! How to Support Local Businesses in Need

It’s no secret that a lot of small businesses are struggling right now in the face of the ongoing virus. While Royal Heating & Air has been able to stay open and continue serving your HVAC needs, some places have had to shut down or seriously alter the way they operate overnight. If you are looking for a way to help support your local businesses, we have some ideas!

Order Takeout

Many restaurants have been able to open back up for dine-in service, but they still have to limit seating in order to be able to safely serve their patrons. So many people are excited to get out of the house and enjoy a meal in a restaurant again, which is great! But it can also lead to congestion and long waits outside of the restaurant. You can help ease the burden and still support these restaurants with your business by continuing to order takeout that can be enjoyed at home. Make sure to still tip well to help keep your favorite local eateries in business and their employees well cared-for.

Buy Gift Cards

If you can’t get out, or don’t yet feel comfortable doing so, you can still support local businesses by purchasing gift cards. Many places can accept gift card orders online or over the phone and deliver an electronic gift certificate to your email address. If you need inspiration, think of services that you would normally be using now, that you know you’ll be excited to use again when everything clears up… Favorite restaurants, local hair salons, spas, etc.

Check in on Social Media

Most businesses these days have several social media accounts to help you stay connected and up-to-date on their services and specials. Find your favorite local establishments online and follow them on social media! Not only will this help their online presence, but then you can keep up with what they are doing during this time to adjust the services.

Donate

Did you get nervous and fill a cart with all the hand sanitizer, masks, and toilet paper you could? Several of these items are returning to supermarket shelves. So, if you have extra on hand, it could be a huge blessing to your local businesses to receive hand sanitizer, anti-bacterial wipes, and other supplies that their business needs in order to safely operate.

Your Local HVAC Company

Royal Heating & Air is proud to be a part of the local community here at the Lake of the Ozarks. As a family-owned and operated business, we understand how hard this crisis has been. We will be here for you through it all to help make sure you and your family members are safe and comfortable at home. For any HVAC needs you may have, don’t hesitate to give us a call and we will be there.

Outdoor Activities for the Whole Family!

No one likes being stuck inside for too long, even when Royal Heating & Air makes the house feel super comfortable. With the weather getting more sunny and clear every day, there are a lot of great things to do outside with the whole family. Get some fresh air and have a great time with these ideas from our team at Royal Heating & Air!

Go "Camping"

Set up the tent in your back yard and pack up like you're going on a true camping trip, sleeping bags and all! Make fun snacks to enjoy in the tent while you spend time together as a family. See who can make the most realistic wildlife sounds, and maybe even tell a ghost story or two. If possible, make a fire and roast some s'mores for good, old-fashioned camping fun!

Go for a Walk or Bike Ride

It may sound a little mundane, but you might be surprised how relaxing and refreshing a walk or bike ride with the family can be. Walking is actually a really great form of exercise, allowing your muscles to stretch and shake off the dust, so to speak.

Make a Scavenger Hunt

Make a list of items to search for in the backyard or on the hiking trail and split up into teams to see who can collect, or take photos, of all the items on the list first! Pine cones, dandelions, a rock shaped like heart... get creative!

Play with Sidewalk Chalk

Chalk is a classic, fun way to spend time outdoors. Work together to make a big, beautiful picture in the driveway, play hopscotch or tic-tac-toe, trace each other on the sidewalk and complete your self-portraits. Chalk is a great way to explore you and your children's imagination.

Have a Picnic

Whether you have access to a park, or simply a picnic blanket in the yard, making a special meal together and eating outside in the fresh air can feel like a special treat for the kiddos. Especially if you include a fun element that they don't get to have every day... Cut their sandwich or fruit pieces into fun shapes or bake cookies together.

Make Natural Bird Feeders

Gather pine cones and attach string to the top like an ornament. Spread peanut butter over the cones and then roll them in birdseed to make a tasty treat for the birds. Hang your creations in the trees or on the deck railing and watch the birds flock to the yard... Now you have the added bonus of being able to bird-watch and learn how to identify the different kinds of birds native to your area.

Get on the Water

Even if you don't have a boat, there are a lot of ways to enjoy the water at the Lake of the Ozarks. While the water is too cold for swimming right now, there is a lot of fun to be had canoeing or kayaking with the family. There are several quieter coves at the Lake that allow for a relaxing time on the water, without having to worry about large wakes from boats. Ha Ha Tonka is one of those great places, which also happens to have several picnic areas and hiking trails.

Fun at the Lake of the Ozarks

Sometimes it can be hard to think of new, fun things to do with the family. Get creative and have a great time going through this list together while enjoying the fresh air and sunshine. When you come back inside, Royal Heating & Air has the knowledge and expertise to help keep your home comfortable and healthy. Give us a call to schedule your HVAC maintenance or installation: 573-480-4313.
