We appreciate our customers and love hearing what they have to say about us. Take a look!

I absolutely recommend Royal Heating & Air! Our heater sounded like shoes in the dryer when we turned it on. On Monday they came and figured out the issue within minutes and ordered the part on-site. Had the new part installed on Wednesday! Fast service and awesome staff. We will definitely use them again!

Royal gave me a fair price with excellent service time and work quality. It’s hard to find honest & dependable companies at the lake, this is one of the few.

~ Cody S.

Waking up in the middle of the night realizing that your air conditioner doesn't work is one of the worst things you could wake up to. I called Tommy and Katie at Royal Heating & Air and let him know about our issue and they had someone out to our house within that day. Our air conditioner is almost 40 years old and they had to give it some extra TLC, but they had it up and running in no time! We highly recommend them!!

~ Lacey D.

We came home from vacation on a Sunday to walk into a house that was 90 degrees. Royal Heating and Air responded within an hour and had the problem fixed within an hour and a half of our phone call. The service was outstanding and reasonably priced! Highly recommend!!!

~ Michelle N.

Highly recommend, I have used Royal for a spring check and clean on my A/C. They were also on-site within an hour on a Friday afternoon last June for an emergency repair while we had guests at our house for the weekend. No A/C and a house full of guests don't mix - they definitely saved our family get-together!

~ Pete Z.

Heat Pumps: What You May Not Know

Heat pumps tend to get mixed reviews – some people love them, while others prefer different HVAC equipment for their home. As the best HVAC company at Lake of the Ozarks, Royal Heating & Air has the information you need! Read on to learn more about heat pumps, how they work, and how they compare to other systems.

What is a Heat Pump and How Does It Work?

Left to its own devices, heat energy travels from high-temperature areas to low-temperature areas. Heat pumps can reverse this flow and pump heat from low-temperature areas to the area you want to heat. They do this by absorbing heat from the outside air, the ground, or water and transferring it into the home.

Heat Pumps are all-in-one heating and air conditioning systems. They are unique from a traditional furnace in that way – they can also be used for cooling! They reverse the flow and transfer heat from inside the house to the air outside.

What are the Benefits and Drawbacks of a Heat Pump?

A great benefit to using a heat pump is that they are an energy-efficient way to both heat and cool your home. This is because of the way they function, by drawing heat from the environment as a source of renewable energy. Also, having one unit to service instead of both an air conditioner and a furnace could help cut costs over time.

You can also combine a heat pump with a furnace for a hybrid heat system in climates that get below freezing regularly and for long periods of time.

Some drawbacks to a heat pump are that they are working year-round and can wear out more quickly than an air conditioner. Again, heat pumps are doing the job of both the air conditioner and the furnace.

You may also notice that the system seems like it is always running, or that the air coming through the vent does not feel hot. This is because heat pumps provide a more constant flow of warm air over time, keeping your home at a constant temperature.

What Kind of Maintenance Does a Heat Pump Require?

To keep your heat pump happy, there are a few steps you’ll want to take.

Keep the thermostat set at a constant temperature. Frequently changing it could put an extra burden on your unit. If you do change the temperature throughout the day, try to limit it to twice a day. For example, when you leave work and when you return home.

Choose a temperature range that is manageable for your system – above 65 degrees in the summer and below 70 in the winter. Your system may have difficulty keeping up and could cause a frozen coil or condensation in the home in the winter.

Keep your heat pump as clean as possible. Remove snow build-up, ice, and any debris accumulating on or around the unit. Blockages can cause the system to overwork and begin to malfunction.

Schedule regular maintenance with Royal Heating & Air to ensure your heat pump is working efficiently. Your unit should be checked once a year at a minimum. It’s best to have us come out every season to ensure it is ready for the changing temperatures.

Common HVAC Misconceptions You’ve Probably Believed

Your heating and cooling unit is something you rely upon on a regular basis. Whether it’s the heat of the summer or the frigid winter months, you likely have your HVAC running throughout many of the months of the year. With something many rely heavily upon to stay comfortable, there are always tips and myths floating around. As the best HVAC company at the Lake of the Ozarks, we’ve heard a lot of things about HVACs that are simply not true. Royal Heating & Air is here to help bust some of those myths in this week’s blog.

Misconception #1: Close vents to save money.

There’s this common misconception that if you close air vents in rooms you hardly use you’ll save money. The truth is, no matter if vents are closed or not, your HVAC system will use the same amount of energy. Closing vents in unused rooms to get more air in used rooms couldn’t be further from the truth. Closing off vents can cause many problems for your HVAC system. Keep in mind that your HVAC system was designed for a certain number of vents and space. In order to keep your HVAC system running as it should, it’s important to keep all vents open.

Misconception #2: A programmable thermostat isn’t worth the money.

This type of thermostat can help you program the temperate you want at different times throughout the day. If you are consistently gone throughout the day during the week, don’t waste energy on keeping your home comfortable. Lowering a few degrees when no one is home can help cut back on your cost, therefore saving you money in the long run.

Misconception #3: The bigger the air conditioner, the cooler your home will be.

The size of the unit does not equate to the level of comfort your home will have. Each home is different, and each home needs a properly sized cooling system. If your unit is too big for your home, not only will your operating costs be higher, the unit won’t function properly. The most common issues with the wrong sized system is frequent cycling on and off, high humidity, and poor distribution.

Misconception #4: Leave ceiling fans on when you leave to cool your home.

A ceiling fan will cool down any bodies in the room, but it won’t actually cool down the room itself. You feel cooler with a ceiling fan on because it is blowing cool air around and it feels cool against your warm skin. Think of it as a cool outdoor breeze. Ceiling fans usually make you feel around 5 degrees cooler, but it won’t do anything for your room once you leave. When you’re home, you can set your thermostat a few degrees higher while running the ceiling fan. When you leave, don’t forget to turn off the ceiling fan to help save on energy costs.

Misconception #5: HVAC maintenance is a waste of time and money.

You invested a lot of money in your HVAC system and it’s extremely important to keep it performing at its best. Having maintenance done on your HVAC system twice a year will help prolong the life of your equipment and it will reduce the need for costly repairs in the future. When your unit is functioning efficiently, it will keep your home comfortable no matter the weather.

As we mentioned, having your HVAC system maintenance at the Lake of the Ozarks is an effective way to catch issues before they lead to major repairs. Contact Royal Heating & Air to schedule your routine maintenance today!

3 Reasons to Have Your HVAC System Regularly Maintained

You rely on your air conditioner to keep your home comfortable all summer long. While it may seem like summer is over since Labor Day is past, there’s still plenty of time for warm temperatures. As the best HVAC company at the Lake of the Ozarks, we know how important it is to catch any hiccups that may occur with your HVAC unit before it becomes a major issue – like your air conditioner breaking down completely. We offer a unique maintenance service where we come and check out your unit and entire system to make sure it is running in tip top shape. To keep your home comfortable year round, learn why you should schedule your preventative HVAC maintenance at the Lake of the Ozarks today!

1) Avoid Major Repairs

Many big HVAC system repairs could be prevented before a major mishap occurs. Don’t get to the point where your home doesn’t have air or heat to call the experts. If you notice a funny sound or your unit not working like it used to, it’s best to have your system checked out. Major repairs can cost major money and it’s best to pay for a small preventative maintenance repair before shelling out for a completely new system install. Help catch an issue before it becomes detrimental to your system.

2) Keep Your Unit Running Smoothly

An efficient system can consume less energy and keep your home comfortable, just like you like it! Preventative maintenance helps ensure your unit is working like it should and is running as smoothly and efficiently as possible. We can check out all the little parts that work together to keep your unit working properly. A minor issue can put strain on other parts of your HVAC unit, which in turn may lead another more major part to fail. Having a professional keep tabs on your unit can help prevent a little issue turning into something big.

3) Ensure Air Filter is in Good Shape

Your air filter is an important part of your system as it traps air particles, hair, and other contaminants from spreading throughout your home. Filters can fill up more quickly than others and finding the right filter for your unique and living conditions is important. A professional can help install the right filter for your specific unit. Keeping your air filter changed out on a regular basis allows more air contaminants to be trapped and the air in your home to be cleaning for you and your family to breathe.

Having your HVAC system maintenance at the Lake of the Ozarks should be done two times a year. This can help ensure your unit is running like it should, doesn’t have any potential dangers lurking, and has a fresh air filter for the upcoming season. It’s best to have these maintenance checks performed in the fall and spring to help make sure your unit is ready for the busy winter and summer seasons ahead of the maintenance check. Contact Royal Heat & Air today to schedule your regular HVAC maintenance check! We look forward to providing a reliable system you and your family can count on!
