Indoor Air Quality & Allergies

If you feel like your indoor air quality could use some help, it could be time to call in a professional. Call the best heating and cooling company at the Lake of the Ozarks – Royal Heating & Air! Whether you need a maintenance check on your unit or an ultraviolet light system installed in the air ducts, we are there for you. Don’t spend your time in a house that feels stuffy and stale. Help get your home feeling cleaner and healthier with our team of expert technicians.

Several common issues that can negatively affect your indoor air quality include pollen, dust, dust mites, pet dander, mold, bacteria, and other harmful materials. These materials can accumulate in the carpeting, upholstery, and even in an unchanged air filter or uncleaned HVAC system. To make sure these items don't cause health issues for the people in your home, be sure to clean the surfaces in the house, change air filters regularly, and call Royal Heating & Air to have maintenance performed on the HVAC system.

Benefits to Custom Ductwork

Royal Heating and Air knows how important good HVAC is in a new home. One of the best solutions for good HVAC is designing custom ductwork for the new house. There are a lot of incredible benefits to custom ductwork that you can enjoy long after the last wall is painted and the last picture hung.

Some of the benefits of custom ductwork include less wasted space, the use of higher-quality materials, increased efficiency, and more consistent temperatures throughout the home. Give us a call to learn more about custom ductwork and how it could benefit your home!

Mini Spilt Systems

A mini-split system is made up of an indoor air handler and an outdoor compressor. During the summer, warm air is pulled in by the indoor unit and then passed over cold evaporator coils. The heat absorbed by the coils is brought to the outside unit and released there, away from your home. Regular HVAC systems function almost the same way, but in a longer and less efficient process.

Mini split systems can benefit your home with improved efficiency, more control over the temperatures in each room of the house, and no need for ductwork to be installed. This could mean a mini split system would be the perfect solution for converting a home from window units to a more efficient and effective HVAC system.

HVAC UV Light System

UV light, or ultraviolet light, is not visible to the human eye. You are likely very familiar with the effects of UV light from the sun when you get a sunburn in the summer. This electromagnetic radiation has enough energy to break chemical bonds, which destroys cells. The UV light rays deactivate bacteria and viruses so that they are no longer able to multiply. That is why this is such an efficient, clean way to improve the air quality in your home. Rather than adding chemicals to the air like other cleaning methods, the UV light destroys any pathogens that it comes into contact with. Because the light stays on 24/7, the air quality in your home is protected at all times. The UV light system is so effective, that some users noticed almost immediately when the light burnt out as the air became less clean.

Humidity Issues

The Lake of the Ozarks can have vast swings in humidity levels... In the summer the house can feel humid and stuffy, then in the winter the house can feel dry and full of static electricity. There are a lot of ways to combat these issues to enjoy a more comfortable home year-round.

In the summer, try using a dehumidifier to prevent allergens and mold from spreading and to promote a cleaner and more comfortable environment. In the winter, it's a good idea to have a whole-home humidifier installed to help avoid illnesses that can come from a dry throat and sinuses. Humidity levels should be maintained at a comfortable level year-round, and Royal Heating & Air would love to help you with that!

Learn All About Mini-Split Systems!

HVAC systems are an incredibly important part of being comfortable at home. There are a lot of choices when it comes to how to heat and cool your home. As the best HVAC company at the Lake of the Ozarks, Royal Heating & Air knows the pros and cons of the various types of systems you can choose from. Keep reading to learn about one of these great options - a mini-split system!

What is a Mini-Split System?

A mini-split system is comprised of an indoor air handler and an outdoor compressor. During the summer, the indoor unit pulls in the warm air from the house and then blows it over cold evaporator coils. The heat absorbed by the coils is brought to the outside unit and released there, away from your home.

Regular HVAC systems function almost the same way, but in a longer and less efficient process. The air is pulled through duct work to the indoor unit that is typically tucked away somewhere in the home. It is cooled by the same process there and then pushed back out through duct work to the rooms in your house.

PRO: Mini-Splits are Efficient

Mini-splits are more efficient than central heating and cooling units because they are cooling the room where they are located. The air doesn't have to travel long distances through duct work and use up energy.

CON: Not Aesthetically Pleasing

Some people are concerned that the mini-split system won't fit well in their home because the indoor units have to be located somewhere visible and they cannot be covered up. Most buyers, however, don't notice the units after they have been installed and enjoy the convenience and efficiency they bring.

PRO: You Have More Control

This system allows you to control the feel of each room of your home with the ideal temperature for that space. With a big home, this can be especially convenient. Leave the less-visited areas of your home one temperature, while keeping the areas where you spend most of your time at another.

CON: Requires More Maintenance

Mini-split systems do require more maintenance than central HVAC systems. The filters have to be washed out monthly or the system could fail and require hundreds of dollars of repairs.

PRO: No Duct Work Necessary

If your home currently has window units and you are looking for a better, more efficient system, a mini-split is a great choice. The installation is relatively simple, only requiring a small hole to connect to the outdoor unit.

CON: High Upfront Cost

The upfront cost for a mini-split system can sometimes be higher than a central HVAC unit. (This does not include new duct work.) While it can save you money in the long term, it could be important to do some calculations on how the costs will add up and whether or not it's the right choice for you.

The Mini Spilt System - Is it Right for Me?

If you are remodeling your home and considering going to a central HVAC system instead of keeping your old window units, a mini-split system could be the perfect solution for you and your home! Royal Heating & Air is the best HVAC Company at the Lake of the Ozarks, and we are here to help you with all your heating and cooling needs. We are excited today to talk about mini-split systems and how they could help your home be more efficient and comfortable year-round. Read on to learn more!

What is a Mini-Split System?

A mini-split system is comprised of an indoor air handler and an outdoor compressor. During the summer while cooling your home, the warm air in the house is pulled in by the indoor unit which then blows it over cold evaporator coils. The heat absorbed by the coils is brought to the outside unit and released there, away from your home.

The air is pulled through duct work to the indoor unit that is typically tucked away somewhere in the home. It is cooled by the same process there and then pushed back out through duct work to the rooms in your house.

What are the Benefits?

Efficiency

Mini-splits are more efficient than central heating and cooling units because they are cooling the room where they are located. The air doesn't have to travel long distances through duct work and use up energy.

More Control

This system allows you to control the feel of each room of your home with the ideal temperature for that space. With a big home, this can be especially convenient. Leave the less-visited areas of your home one temperature, while keeping the areas where you spend most of your time at another.

No Duct Work Necessary

If your home currently has window units and you are looking for a better, more efficient system, a mini-split is a great choice. The installation is relatively simple, only requiring a small hole to connect to the outdoor unit. This could save you a lot of money that would have to be spent on duct work installation for a central HVAC system.

Are There Any Cons?

Yes, as with nearly any system on the market, there are a few cons to consider before making your final decision.

Upfront Cost

The upfront cost for a mini-split system can sometimes be higher than a central HVAC unit. (This does not include new duct work.) While it can save you money in the long term, it could be important to do some calculations on how the costs will add up and whether or not it's the right choice for you.

Maintenance

Mini-split systems do require more maintenance than central HVAC systems. The filters have to be washed out monthly or the system could fail and require hundreds of dollars of repairs.

Aesthetics

Some people are concerned that the mini-split system won't fit well in their home because the indoor units have to be located somewhere visible and they cannot be covered up. Most buyers, however, don't notice the units after they have been installed and enjoy the convenience and efficiency they bring.
